I'm starting another larger (16x32) marbles painting for an upcoming show at the Copley Society. I'm not totally keen on making paintings just for specific shows, but it's an interesting theme ("the color of music"), and it's also a good challenge to work a little faster; the submission deadline is August 1!
I decided to reinforce the drawing differently with this piece. Previously I've been using darker paint to strengthen the charcoal sketch, but that's created some issues when actually blocking in the color around the edges. Here I've tried a gray that is only a little lighter than the tone of the canvas. I'll know soon if that works better.
