I'm back to working on this piece now (please excuse the glare). When starting it a few months ago, I decided to try working exclusively with transparent glazes. It's proven to be very difficult and time-consuming to build up the sense of solidity and 3-dimensionality of the forms. I won't be working this way again; back to solid modeling with opaque paint and then glazing where necessary.
