"Still Life with Green Marble Egg"
Oil on panel, 4.25 x 6 inches (10.5 x 15 cm)

It's been a long time since I've offered any paintings at auction. I read the same news as everybody else, and the general state of the economy made me a little skittish this year, especially since my paintings currently take much longer to produce than back when I was actively following the painting-a-day practice. As a result, I've basically been building an inventory of new paintings and... waiting. Anyway, the recession being officially over (so the news says), the time feels right to start making some of these new pieces available.
I thought I'd start with this, which is something of a recent personal favorite. I can almost never resist the urge to paint objects through glass, and this lemon seen through an old spice bottle was no exception. The green marble egg was more difficult to place in the composition - maybe because it's actually an unusual object - but I'm glad I was able to include it.

Wonderful -- All the elements just work so well together!! Esp. like the spice bottle!!
Hi Jeffrey!
It is wonderful! I love everything of it, the lemon, so fresh, the bottle, so full of reflected colors, and the marble egg, so unusual and attractive and colorful... great in every single aspect! And so much detail in such a small format... amazing
(And nice to hear the news about the recession...)
Best regards,
Carolina
Terrific painting! The marble looks like a planet suspended in space.
Lovely piece. I love the little bit of iridescence on the bottle.
It would be great if eBay sales picked up again. Even as an unknown, less-than-daily painter, I sold several pieces a couple of years ago; but I got no interest at all when I posted a few things last August. I think in addition to the bad economy, the influx of so many people jumping on the bandwagon had an adverse effect on sales (compounded recently by eBay's 5-free-auctions/month offer)--though maybe less effect for those who, like you, built a following earlier on. Good luck with this one--it's worth far more than your minimum bid.
Correction: I should have said, " . . . those like you who are wonderful painters--and built a following . . ."
Wow!
Jeff, just discovered your blog! Beautiful, sensitive work. Incredible color expression and interaction. What a treat for the eyes.
You should save this beauty until Easter when that egg would be a star.
