Arranging the items for a still life is by no means a tidy affair. The table in my studio where I do this invariably gets strewn with dozens of objects while I search for just the right items, combinations, positions, lighting, etc.
Sometimes, though, the chance juxtaposition of these items off to the side leads to a painting I hadn't originally intended to do... like this one. See a wineglass... see a pile of stones... seems like an obvious combination... right?
